A Two-Week Plan for Students Who Are Behind in Several Subjects

When several subjects are behind, students often jump between them and finish nothing. Catch-up needs triage: urgent deadlines, high-value foundations and realistic daily capacity.

Why students are getting stuck

When several subjects are behind, students often jump between them and finish nothing. Catch-up needs triage: urgent deadlines, high-value foundations and realistic daily capacity. The first useful step is to identify the behaviour or missing skill behind the result. A lower mark is evidence, but it does not by itself explain what must change.

What to do this week

List all missing work and label it urgent, foundational or optional. Each day, complete one urgent task and one foundation block. Ask teachers or tutors which items can be shortened or skipped. Review the list after seven days.

At the end of the week, use a fresh question or short explanation to check whether the skill transfers. Keep the part that worked and change one part of the routine if the same error returns.

Common mistake: Do not attempt to erase months of backlog in one weekend. Sleep loss and rushed copying will weaken the following week.

How a tutor should support the student

A tutor should begin with recent work, ask the student to explain their reasoning and choose practice at the right level. The lesson should end with a clear next task and a way to check it. Parents and students can ask what improved, what remains difficult and what evidence will show progress.
